Stuart is a qualified internal auditor with over 25 years of internal audit and advisory experience, gained in a variety of sectors. Training in central government at the Lord Chancellor’s Department (now the Ministry of Justice), he moved on to spend several years with Arthur Andersen, responsible for delivering internal audit services at a range of public sector clients.

These included the NHS, housing associations, further education colleges and non-departmental public bodies. Stuart was also responsible for delivering the internal audit programme at the Millennium Dome between 1999 and 2001.

Stuart was a member of the founding KCG team in 2005 and since then, he’s been responsible for the delivery of audit programmes to a number of members. He’s a past and long-standing member of the Council for Higher Education Internal Auditors (CHEIA) Executive.


  • Head of Internal Audit for University of Roehampton, Buckinghamshire New University, University of Kent, University of Chichester and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance
  • Leads relationship with Cardiff University, University of Surrey and Richmond University - The American University in London 
  • Responsible for managing a team of auditors delivering these programmes, conducting special investigations and ad hoc reviews
  • Developed the KCG risk management methodology
  • Delivers facilitated risk workshops across the KCG membership and for non-members
  • Developed KCG’s approach to auditing Value for Money arrangements
