KCG part of a Cyber Security Panel Discussion

Last month, our Assistant Director – IT Assurance was a panellist in an invitation only on-line Private Digital Executive Boardroom session “Rethinking your cyber security strategy for the new world”.

The event was developed especially for Chief Information Security Officers and senior cybersecurity practitioners and brought together a grouping of executives within the IT sector with the principle that we can all learn from each other. The event was held under the Chatham House Rule and co-hosted by Alex Shearer, Head of Major Accounts, Orange Cyberdefense UK, and Andy Wright, UK Managing Director, Check Point Software Technologies. Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. is a leading provider of cyber security solutions to governments and corporate enterprises globally to over 100,000 organisations of all sizes.

Key takeaways were:

  • changes in the current IT environment: securing remote workers, increasing connectivity, and automating security; and
  • threat landscape 2021: COVID-19 related attacks and how to prepare for the next one.

There was some healthy discussion throughout the session with appreciation of our Assistant Director sharing his experience & insights with the rest of the group, whilst of course maintaining strict client confidentiality. A lot of ground was covered on data governance, user education and third-party supply chain risk. Check Point collated and circulated some further insights on these topics in its Cyber Attack Trends Mid-Year Report 2021.

Whilst KCG does not endorse any specific suppliers, it maintains its awareness of industry leading technology products through networking and research, particularly those technologies and products deployed or under consideration by KCG clients. Checkpoint hope to make these panel sessions a regular event to continue discussions and cover other topics such as ransomware, zero-trust, cloud security and security consolidation – how to do more with less whilst accelerating threat prevention.
