Kingston University has been a client of KCG since its inception in 2005. KCG provides a unique internal audit service to Higher Education as an independent consortium. The service is provided by qualified staff who have a deep understanding of the sector. This enables audit work to cover a broad range of issues in addition to the more standard audits required by the regulator. At Kingston, we value this knowledge where activities can be benchmarked with the results from other member institutions. Our Senior Leadership Team and Audit Committee have supported the use of KCG over a long period which demonstrates its value to the organisation.
The Courtauld has benefited for a number of years from it’s very effective working relationship with KCG. The firm have shown an ability to understand the culture, ambition, nuances and inevitable constraints of a small, specialist institution while ensuring that they conduct audit activity with professional rigour and judgement which makes a proportionate assessment of risk exposure. The audit programme is delivered on time, on cost and to quality standards which assist management and the Audit Committee in focussing on the key issues and pragmatic assessment and mitigation. This is testament to the quality of staff employed and the overall management of the firm.
The National Film & Television School has worked closely with KCG since gaining university status in 2014. Through ongoing consultancy, challenge and advice, KCG continues to add value ensuring the School’s internal controls and governance remains robust, effective and fit for purpose.
Trevor Hall - NFTS Finance Director
For years we had been unhappy with the tick box approach of the big providers, who sent inexperienced junior staff who knew nothing of our business. We now have experienced internal auditors who understand HE and provide challenge to our managers and add value to the organisation. All of this comes at a daily rate that does not require VAT, because of our cost-sharing model. KCG are particularly sensitive to the issues of small specialist institutions and how we might be different from large multi-faculty HEIs. They give confidence to our Audit Committee, who have never been happier! In addition we sometimes involve KCG in other activities – such as facilitating our annual risk workshop and providing support for business continuity planning.
Deputy Director - Royal College of Music
KCG have extensive expertise within the HE sector and understand the day-to-day workings of our institution. In addition the collaborative approach helps us in understanding how improvements can be made with advice always being provided in a constructive manner. The audit process is clear and forensic allowing the institution to learn and improve. KCG actively work together for the betterment of the institution giving institutions the opportunity to respond to their findings, the audit process is rigorous and flexible to ensure the best possible outcome. I would recommend KCG’s services to other institutions.
